Taking an official taxi is the most convenient way to get from the airport straight to your hotel in Paris — especially if you have a lot of bags, children, or are simply tired after a long flight. No stairs, no changing trains, no dragging luggage through the city. You sit down once and arrive at your door.

Airport taxi fixed rate = Peace of mind after a long flight

Unlike Uber or Bolt, official taxis from the airport to Paris use a fixed rate. For CDG airport , the rate is €56 if your destination is in Paris north of the Seine (Right Bank) or €65 if it is south of the Seine (Left Bank). For Orly airport the rates are: €45 to Right Bank, €36 to Left Bank. No meter ticking on your nerves in traffic. No risk of a dishonest driver taking the longest possible route. The fixed price gives you real peace of mind, so desirable after a long flight — you know exactly what you will pay the moment you board your taxi. Important: This fixed rate applies only to destinations inside Paris itself (postal codes starting with 75). It does not apply to any of the suburbs, even the closest ones. If your destination is outside the Paris circular motorway (Boulevard Périphérique), the fixed rate will not apply.

How to Find the Official Taxi Rank at the Airport

Getting to an official taxi is easy — and much closer than the Uber/Bolt pickup zones. As soon as you exit the luggage claim area, stop and look around for a taxi sign. You will see dozens of different signs — just be attentive and scan those signs carefully. The taxi sign is always there. As soon as you spot one, just follow in the direction of its arrow. You will soon see another taxi sign, and another one. Just follow the signs and ignore anyone proposing a ride to Paris. In just a couple of minutes you will reach the official taxi rank. After a short wait (usually 5–15 minutes) you get into a licensed Taxi Parisien and can relax — because the rate is fixed, your driver’s interest is the same as yours: get you to your destination as quickly as possible.

How Paris Taxi Fares Work for Non-airport Rides

You will never pay less than €8 for your ride, even if your destination is just around the block. €8 is a minimum fare. Unless your ride is to CDG or Orly airport, the moment you board your taxi, the meter kicks in, and from the first second it shows €3 if you hailed your taxi or €7 if you ordered it via phone or G7 app. Then the meter starts ticking with a disturbing speed, adding to your fare €2 to €2.6 every 3 minutes, even if your taxi barely moves or does not move at all. If your taxi manages to move faster than 20 miles per hour (32 km/h), a rarity inside Paris, the meter switches to counting per mile, €2.1 – €2.8 / mile (€1.30–€1.76 / km). As soon as your taxi slows down below 20 miles per hour or stops at traffic lights (every 300 yards on average), the meter switches back to counting minutes. Fortunately, Paris is a very compact city, impossible to find 2 places more than 7 miles (12 km) apart. If the start or end of your ride is in central Paris, the ride distance will never exceed 6 miles, and the total fare will be in the €20 – €40 range.

Taxi Parisien vs Uber – Why the Official Taxi Wins

Official Taxi Parisien has a huge advantage over Uber or any other ride-hailing app. Taxi Parisien can use the dedicated bus lanes and cruise through dense traffic, while an Uber car is stuck moving no faster than a pedestrian. Unlike Uber, official taxis can also reach many places in Paris that are restricted for private cars. This is especially useful if your hotel is in a pedestrian zone and you have a lot of luggage. When you order a taxi with the G7 app, waiting times are much shorter than with Uber. The estimated arrival time is also far more reliable — you don’t get the constant nerve-wracking time resets that are common with Uber in Paris. Uber does not have fixed rates for the airports. Taxi Parisien does. For airport rides, the official taxi is the clear winner: faster, more reliable, and the price is fixed. When traffic is light, Uber can be up to 30 % cheaper. But in dense traffic you not only waste time — you often end up paying more as well.

How to Catch a Taxi Parisien

You can hail a taxi on the street. Look for the illuminated taxi sign on the roof — when the light is on (but not red), the cab is free. Be prepared for some frustration: most taxis that pass by are already taken. The easiest way to order an official Taxi Parisien is with the G7 app. It works very much like Uber, but you do not need to enter your credit card details just to use it.
