Paris to Versailles by RER Train – Only €2.55

Getting from central Paris to the Château de Versailles is surprisingly simple and cheap. The journey costs exactly the same as a normal Metro ride — only €2.55 . You can use the same Navigo Easy card (or phone ticket) you already use for the Metro. No special ticket is required.

Your Ticket to Versailles – Same as for the Metro

Load a normal Metro-Train-RER ticket (€2.55) onto your Navigo Easy card or buy it in the Bonjour RATP / Île-de-France Mobilités app. One ticket covers the whole trip, including any Metro transfer to reach the RER station. Children aged 4–9 pay half price (€1.30). Keep the ticket until you exit the station in Versailles .

How to Catch the Right RER C Train to Versailles

Go to any central RER C station (Musée d’Orsay, Invalides, Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame, Champ de Mars–Tour Eiffel…). Look at the platform screens. You must board a train whose final destination is Versailles Château – Rive Gauche (sometimes written Versailles Château RG). Common train codes for this branch are VICK or VITY. If the screen shows another Versailles station (Chantiers or Rive Droite), do not take that train.

The RER Ride and the Short Walk to Versailles

The train ride takes 35–45 minutes. Stay on until the last stop: Versailles Château – Rive Gauche. Exit the station and walk straight along Avenue de Paris. It is a flat, pleasant 8–10 minute walk to the main palace gates. Follow the signs or simply follow the crowd — you cannot miss it.

Central Paris to CDG Airport – RER Train or Taxi?

Two excellent options are available for getting from central Paris to Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG): the RER B train or an official Paris taxi. At €14 per person, the RER B is the more economical choice for one to three travelers. However, from four people onward, a taxi becomes the clear winner : it costs the same or less than the train while being significantly more comfortable and convenient — door-to-door service, no stairs, no train changes, and no dragging heavy luggage through crowded stations. For a group of three, the RER B costs €42 total (€14 × 3), which is only €14 cheaper than a taxi hailed on north of the Sein river (€23 if hailed south of the Sein). While this is still a saving, the taxi is often the better choice unless you are traveling very light.

RER B Train to CDG Airport – €14 per person

To get to CDG Airport you will need a special Paris Région ↔ Aéroports ticket for €14 (or €7 for children 4–9). You can buy it and load it on a Navigo Easy card using ticket machines (picture above) at any Metro or RER station. The process is the same as for buying Metro tickets (see video instructions here) the only difference is that you choose Airport tickets on a "Making a choice" screen (below picture).

Important! If you have unused Metro tickets on your Navigo Pass you cannot load on it Airport tickets. You will have to buy new Navigo pass for every passenger (€2 per pass). Remember, you cannot share your pass with others so don't load more than one ticket unless you plan a return journey. Journey time: about 30 minutes from Gare du Nord, 35 minutes from Châtelet–Les Halles. But only if you choose express train (only one intermediate stop between Gare du Nord and CDG). We strongly advise to take express trains they are much less crowded faster and most importantly safer.

Where to Board RER B train to CDG Airport

The most centrally located RER B stations for travel to CDG are: Châtelet–Les Halles  — the central hub with excellent connections to many Metro lines (1, 4, 7, 11, 14), RER A, and RER D. Gare du Nord  — located inside huge railway station. It is the last RER B stop in Paris before the train heads to the airport (fewer additional stops after boarding here). It connects to Metro lines 4, 5. Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame Less then a minute walk from Notre-Dame cathedral. Connections to Metro Line 4 (Saint-Michel station) and Metro Line 10 (Cluny–La Sorbonne station). The best option on the Left Bank. Luxembourg Just a few steps from Luxemburg Garden. No Metro connection. Transferring from the Metro to RER B Just follow prominent blue “RER B” signs and directional indicators for “Aéroport Charles de Gaulle”. At Châtelet–Les Halles and Gare du Nord the interchange is large with long corridors and escalators/elevators — allow 5–10 minutes.
